Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Members and friends of Cincinnati State's "In the Zone" organization participated in the Cincinnati Pride Parade on June 24.

The CState group, pictured below, included (left to right) Mika Oshatz, Dr. Ronnie Gladden, Raya Schweitzer, Sam Lawless, A friend of In the Zone, Hunter Campbell, Emma Bunke, Marshall Lawless, and Dawn Wilke.

The In The Zone student club at Cincinnati State provides a safe and supportive environment for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and questioning students and their straight allies. Dr. Ronnie Gladden is the advisor for In the Zone at Clifton Campus and Dawn Wilke is advisor at the Middletown campus.

While some members of CState In The Zone have participated in past Cincinnati Pride Parade festivities, 2017 marked the first year of robust attendance.

Dr. Gladden said, "Our attendees were inspired by some of the creative presentations of Pride attendees, and can't wait till next year to get involved again. We had a great time while supporting LGBTQ+ diversity, inclusion, and civil rights."

Dawn Wilke added, "The event was empowering and a great time was had by all!"
