President Monica Posey was a "guest reader" for Mallory Center preschool children on Nov. 30, 2017, demonstrating and promoting the importance of reading.
Early Childhood Education majors in the course "Emergent Literacy in Early Childhood" are learning about the importance of giving young children positive exposure to reading, with help from strong adult role models.
ECE faculty member Holly McArthur developed the "Reading is Great" program to recruit "guest readers" from the College community who visit and read to Mallory Center preschoolers.
Research shows that when children are read to early and consistently, they will become better readers (and better students) as they grow up.
At the end of each guest reading session the preschoolers chant: "Reading is Great at Cincinnati State!"
