Cincinnati State won a Gold medal in the 2018 U.S. Open College Beer Championship, a competition that "helps determine the best future brewers in North America."
Cincinnati State's award-winning Belgian beer, named Gisele, used a recipe from Danny Geiser and was brewed in the BREW 130 Brewing Production class under the supervision of adjunct instructor Austin Zanella.
The College Beer Championship competition is open to students in colleges or universities that teach brewing courses. Entries must be submitted by a brewing faculty member.
This was the third year for the competition, and 17 institutions from the U.S. and Canada participated.
Last year, a Cincinnati State Brewing student won a Silver medal in the competition.
