Constitution Day and Voter Registration

Constitution Day

All members of the College community are encouraged to participate in the annual celebration of Constitution Day, which usually includes voter registration activities.

Constitution Day-- also known as Citizenship Day-- is celebrated on September 17 each year.

Constitution Day commemorates the day in 1787 that delegates to the first U.S. Constitutional Convention (George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, and more than 30 other "founding fathers") signed the document that established our national government.

In 2004, the U.S. Congress designated Sep. 17 as Constitution Day, with requirements for public schools and governmental offices to provide educational programs to promote better understanding of the Constitution and citizenship (both native-born and naturalized).
