Get Ahead with Co-op, Internships, and Clinicals

cooperative education

Your Cincinnati State co-op education experience can make all the difference in preparing you for your future.

Cincinnati State’s commitment to cooperative education is so strong that almost every program we offer will accommodate cooperative educational experiences, clinical practice, or internships. Co-op is closely integrated with our course curriculum, our scheduling, and our advising system. A network of co-op coordinators affiliated with each department support students in preparing for and succeeding on their co-ops.

At Cincinnati State, our focus is on helping students gain the knowledge they need to be employable and successful in their chosen field. Our strong connections to over 800 employers enable us to build an exceptional academic partnership.

Classroom + On-the-Job = Career Success

Co-op experience enables you to:

  • Apply your classroom learning in a real-world setting;
  • Earn money to offset the cost of your education while you gain valuable hands-on experience;
  • Decide on your career direction;
  • Develop leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Cooperative education increases your chances for success.

Consider these statistics:

  • Cincinnati State had almost 3,000 co-op placements in 2007, with more than $7 million in earnings by Cincinnati State co-op students.
  • Within six months of graduation, almost 100% of Cincinnati State graduates are employed or are continuing their education. And 87% of employed Cincinnati State graduates are more likely to be employed in jobs related to their majors—almost ten percent more than the national average for two-year colleges.

Each academic division at Cincinnati State establishes its own policies regarding how students may fulfill co-op requirements. To discuss options, contact a cooperative education coordinator for the division in which you are interested.
