Why get the CDA certificate at Cincinnati State?

We’re fully online and flexible. Our CDA program is delivered in an accelerated two-course format over a 15-week semester. All sessions and coursework are handled online, so you can learn from home! No commute, no rigid schedule.

Currently working in childcare? An affordable education is attainable through the T.E.A.C.H. grant, which offers scholarships for tuition assistance to eligible students. For many, the grant covers a significant portion of the cost, allowing you to earn a national credential without derailing your finances.

With a real credential, you gain real opportunities!

The Child Development Associate credential is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education (ECE) and is a key stepping stone on the path to career advancement in ECE.

After two courses, you’ll have completed the 120 required clock-hours and met all competency standards set by the Council for Early Childhood Professionals Recognition/CDA National Credential Program. Upon completion, you will be qualified for roles such as Childcare Worker, with a pathway into ECE training programs or a higher degree.

The credits you earn from the CDA credentials can be used toward an associate’s degree in ECE. Allowing you to have a fulfilling job while continuing your education to advance your career!

CDA Topics 1 – ECE 111

Course topics focus on the competency areas: safe and healthy environments, physical and intellectual competence, and social and emotional development.

CDA Topics 2 – ECE 112

A continuation of ECE 111 that focuses on the competency areas: relationships with families, program organization, and professionalism, as well as preparing for the competency test and portfolio review.
