How To Use LinkedIn Workshop
This session is part of our Career Fair Prep Week (February 23 -26, 2026)
How To Use LinkedIn – Thursday, February 26
This presentation teaches students how to use LinkedIn as a strategic career tool to become more visible, credible, and competitive in today’s job market. With the majority of recruiters relying on LinkedIn to find talent, students learn how to optimize their profiles so they appear in recruiter searches, highlight in-demand skills, and communicate their value clearly through strong headlines and “About” sections. The session explains how recruiters search by keywords, why skills matter more than job titles, and how Cincinnati State labs, co-ops, and hands-on experience provide a real hiring advantage.
Students also learn how LinkedIn differs from traditional job boards by focusing on relationships rather than cold applications. The presentation covers how to find opportunities before they are posted, connect with alumni and local professionals, and stay professionally active without needing to be an influencer. The session concludes by connecting students with Career Central for hands-on support, including profile audits, keyword guidance, and privacy setting optimization, and provides clear next steps students can take within 24 hours to strengthen their professional presence and improve their chances of getting hired.
