EMT students learned about UC Air Care services
Students preparing to be Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) in the summer class EMT-110 (EMT Theory and Practice) learned about procedures used by the University of Cincinnati Air Care helicopter service during a June 2024 class field trip.
Instructor Sara Moore and the EMT students traveled to the Whitewater Fire and EMS Department in Miamitown, Ohio for the introduction to the Air Care service.
Shawn Stacy, Program Chair for the EMT and Paramedic degree and certificate programs, said the students spent a day working with the Air Care team on emergency skills and patient care.
UC Air Care routinely is called to emergency scenes, and EMT’s need to know how to dispatch the Air Care service, the landing area required, and what to expect when the Air Care helicopter arrives.
“Cincinnati State EMT students visit fire departments and emergency rooms throughout the tri-state to become familiar with many aspects of emergency care,” Stacy said.
