Faculty & staff threw a “Chill & Grill” party for EIT students
On October 16, 2025, students enrolled in Engineering & Information Technologies programs were treated to a meal and more at the second annual “Chill & Grill” student appreciation event hosted by the division’s faculty and staff members.

Nearly 150 students visited the Mechanical Engineering Technologies lab room in Main 141 to enjoy burgers and hot dogs, play cornhole, chat with friends, or just take a relaxing break from standard Fall Semester activities.

The special event was coordinated by faculty members Zane Decker, Joel Knueven, Oliver Meinerding, and Matt Spetz, with assistance from EIT Business Manager Julie Rohling and many others.
Students said they appreciated the food and the opportunity to “hang out” with other students in their program as well as their instructors.
“The students told us they had a great time, so we want to keep this going!” Decker said.
The party organizers said they plan to host other special events for students throughout the academic year.
