Non-Regionally Accredited Institutions
What it Means
An unaccredited institution is a school, college, or university that has not been reviewed or approved by an official accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). When a school is accredited, it means it has met these quality benchmarks. When a school is unaccredited, there has been no such verification.
Accreditation is a voluntary process where institutions are evaluated to ensure they meet established academic and operational standards. These include things like qualified faculty, appropriate curriculum, adequate facilities, and sound financial practices. When a school is accredited, it means it has met these quality benchmarks. When a school is unaccredited, there has been no such verification.
While National Accreditation may be verified by CHEA, the standards are not as rigorous. Therefore, Cincinnati State only accepts credits from regionally accredited institutions.
