Dr. Bonnie Smith is the new Dean of Health & Public Safety
Dr. Bonnie Smith has been selected as Dean of the Health & Public Safety Division.
Bonnie joined Cincinnati State in July 2023 as an Associate Dean and Director of Nursing in the HPS Division. Previously, she was the Nursing Program Director at the University of Rio Grande and Rio Grande Community College (Rio Grande, OH), and she served as the Nursing Program Director and Dean of Health and Public Safety at Hocking College (Nelsonville, OH).
Bonnie said, “I look forward to working with the incredible faculty and staff of Cincinnati State and the HPS Division to prepare the next generation of health and public safety professionals. I believe in Cincinnati State’s mission and recognize the difference we make in our student’s lives.”
She continued, “It will be exciting to use our new health simulation laboratory to enhance interdisciplinary development of critical thinking and clinical judgement skills across the curricula, and to expand opportunities for health and safety careers. Cincinnati State’s role in meeting workforce demands ultimately results in better care for our communities.”
Bonnie earned an associate degree in Nursing from Hocking Technical College, a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Ohio University, and a Master of Science in Nursing from Wright State University. Her PhD in Higher Education Administration was earned at Ohio University.
Bonnie enjoys spending her free time with her family.
