Seven candidates spoke at City Council Forum hosted by student organizations

Seven of the ten candidates on the November 7 ballot for Cincinnati City Council attended the Forum hosted on October 26, 2023, by Cincinnati State’s Student Government Association (SGA) and the Black Male Initiative (BMI) student organization.

Elliott Ruther, Chief of Institutional Advancement and Foundation Executive Director, opened the Forum and introduced President Monica Posey, who welcomed the Council candidates.

Candidates who attended were Vice Mayor Jan-Michele Lemon Kearney, incumbent Council members Jeff Cramerding, Reggie Harris, Mark Jeffries, Scotty Johnson, and Seth Walsh, and Council candidate Anna Albi.

SGA President Jappie Kauer was the forum moderator and asked the candidates questions provided by CState students. Topics included public safety, housing, racial equity, and other issues of concern. BMI President Djibril Thiam served as timekeeper.
