CFOT vs. CPCT Overview:
The Fiber Optic Association (FOA) offers two basic certifications for fiber optic technicians: Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT) and Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT):
- CFOT
- The basic certification for fiber option technicians, covering the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed for designing, installing, testing, and operating fiber optic networks.
- CPCT
- A certification for technicians who work with copper, fiber, and wireless for premises cabling, such as LAN and security.
