Ohio Real Estate Sales Agent & Brokers License Requirements
Start or advance your career in real estate with one of our two certificate programs – each designed to meet Ohio’s licensing requirements and support your long-term goals.
- Real Estate Certificate (25-29 Credit Hours)
- Combines required pre-licensing courses with business, salesmanship, and marketing skills. Financial aid eligible, and credits can be applied toward associate’s degrees in Business Management, Marketing, or Finance.
- Ohio Real Estate Salesperson Certificate (9 Credit Hours)
- A short-term certificate that meets the 100-hour classroom requirement to sit for the Ohio Salesperson Licensing Exam. Not eligible for financial aid.
Both certificates help meet the educational requirements to sit for the Ohio Real Estate Salesperson Licensing Exam and can be part of the path toward the Ohio Broker’s License.
Real Estate Sales Agent Exam Pre-Licensing Courses
To qualify to take the written exam required to become a licensed Ohio Real estate Sales Agent, three courses are required:

Real Estate Finance and Appraisal A course on concepts and techniques related to residential real estate appraisal and finance, emphasizing Ohio real estate transactions. Topics include: finance instruments, loan processes and documentation, and appraisal methods. | 3 | RE 110 | Yes | Yes |

State of Ohio Brokers License Educational Requirements
Continue your education at Cincinnati State’s Business Division by completing the coursework required to meet the educational standards set by the Ohio Division of Real Estate and Professional Licensing to sit for the Broker exam. Our program is designed to support licensed real estate professionals who are ready to take the next step in their careers. Below are the courses that fulfill these requirements, helping you advance toward becoming a licensed real estate broker in Ohio.

Financial Management | FIN 150 Business Finance – 3 Credit Hours A course on principles of financing business firms. Topics include: financial statement analysis, time value of money, management of cash flow, risk and return, and short and long-term sources of financing. Prerequisites: ACC 101 |
Human Resource or Personal Management | MGT 105 Human Resource Management – 3 Credit Hours A course on the role of the human resource department and the supervisor’s role in various human resource functions. Topics include: recruiting, choosing, and training employees; compensation and benefits; performance evaluation; disciplinary actions; and workplace rights and responsibilities. Prerequisites: None |
Applied Business Economics | ECO 105 Principles of Microeconomics – 3 Credit Hours Study of basic concepts of microeconomics. Topics include: supply and demand, equilibrium processes, consumer choice, firm pricing and output behavior, industry structure, government antitrust regulation, externalities, economic welfare, and income distribution. Prerequisites: Placement in ENG 101A and MAT 093 (minimum grade C) or appropriate Math placement Or ECO 110 Principles of Macroeconomics – 3 Credit Hours Study of the economic macro-system. Topics include: analysis of inflation and unemployment, government monetary and fiscal policy, aggregate income analysis, consumption, savings and investment, long-run growth policies and budget deficits, foreign trade flows, and exchange rate polices. Prerequisites: Placement in ENG 101A and MAT 093 (minimum grade C) or appropriate Math placement |
Business Law | LAW 101 Business Law – 3 Credit Hours A course on the legal environment in which businesses operate. Prerequisites: Placement into ENG 101A |
