Faculty members shared knowledge & received awards at Ohio Occupational Therapy Association conference

Cincinnati State faculty members shared their expertise with Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants from across the state at the Ohio Occupational Therapy Association Annual Conference held October 19 to 21, 2023, in Toledo.

Occupational Therapy Assistant Technology (OTA) faculty member Toni Durban (center of photo) and adjunct instructors Christie Tuttle (left) and Marita Hensley (right) led a presentation on innovative strategies for supporting OTA fieldwork students during their clinical placements.

Tuttle is the president-elect of the state professional association, and Durban is chair of the organization’s Occupational Therapy Assistant Committee, so both were active participants in Board meetings held during the conference.

In addition, Marita Hensley received the award for Outstanding Fieldwork Educator.

In their conference presentation, the OTA faculty members emphasized the importance of providing mental health support for students both within and outside the classroom. They also highlighted the dedication of the OTA community to nurturing the next generation of practitioners.
