Cincinnati State is an urban community college that serves a broad mix of students. In terms of age, race, life experience and several other measures, our student demographics make Cincinnati State one of the most diverse institutions in the entire region.
All of our students commute to campus. About 30 percent take classes full-time. Many of our students have family and employment obligations in addition to their academic responsibilities.
We pride ourselves on providing environments -- at the main campus in Clifton, and at our Middletown, Evendale and Harrison campuses -- that serve the practical and social needs of our students. All of our campuses are safe. Parking is a high priority, and is available for free at all campuses, except Clifton campus.
The Clifton campus, strategically located on several major bus lines and within walking distance of affordable, desirable residential neighborhoods, boasts computer labs, study lounges, excellent dining options, free workout facilities, gym access, recreational areas, and a welcoming, high-tech library full of student-friendly staffers -- not to mention one of Greater Cincinnati's better Frisbee golf courses. The Clifton campus is also a functional arboretum, a fitting testament to our widely recognized landscape horticulture programs.
The College offers the full range of traditional student life activities and programming found at college campuses, with clubs and organizations, guest lectures, student government activities, and numerous student-focused events.
Cincinnati State also has a tradition of excellence in its varsity athletic programs -- our men's soccer teams have been ranked in the Top 20 nationally among junior colleges, and have sent players to the MLS and a raft of NCAA Division-1 schools, and our women's soccer team also has completed at the national and regional tournament level.
We have an active community of international students, and in recent years the College has been involved in educational "learning by helping" trips to Guatemala. Several of our students clubs affiliated with career interests -- engineering technologies, environmental technologies, respiratory care, and horticulture, among them -- are known for their participation in regional competitions that often involve trips far from campus.
Cincinnati State is also home to several clubs and organizations -- such as Adult Learners on Campus, the Black Male Initiative, and the Women's Empowerment Alliance -- dedicated to the needs of our special populations.
From clubs and organizations to special events, Student Activities works hard to provide services and programming for all students to enhance and complement their overall academic experience.
Student Activities provides an opportunity for students to participate in a diverse range of activities and events on and off campus, from membership in a club or organization to social and educational events.
